A lead source may be one of the most critical pieces you can track if you’re spending money on marketing. It can give you insights as to whether or not the money you’re spending is worth it, or if you should be directing your funds elsewhere.

If you don’t have lead source tracking in place, or don’t have it set up consistently, you’ll definitely want to check out this episode of SixthDivision TV.

hi thank you for this, but how do you do it when you are pointing to leadpages – im running a facebook ad that points to a lead page that is posted on my wordpress site.

Leadpages allows you to dynamically change hidden fields on your form, like leadsource. They call it an “advanced option”, but you just need to add additional parameters on your FB ad ULRs to pre-populate the form with the correct leadsource ID. So your ad would point to your leadpage, but with added info: yoursite.leadpages.net?inf_field_LeadSourceId=430 the 430 is the ID of the leadsource like they explained above. Good luck!

Great tutorial guys – what if I’m using ClickFunnels? Any ideas how to pass the lead source through?

    • Rob Whitmire on August 27, 2015 at 8:14 pm

Troy, did you get an answer to this? We’re moving from Lead Pages to ClickFunnels and I’m wondering the same thing.

Hey Troy. Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately, ClickFunnels doesn’t allow you to use your Infusionsoft forms directly. Because of this, the only way to pass a leadsource is to use a Infusionsoft form code inside of an HTML block and then use custom javascript to stick the leadsource into the hidden field. Yeah… it’s a huge pain. LeadPages and WordPress make it way easy. ClickFunnels… not so much.
